Group certifies buildings, releases rating

Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI) on Thursday launched Greenship, its environmental and energy-efficient standards rating system that would slap a “green building” certificate on new buildings in the city.

“We are targeting commercial buildings because they consume the largest amounts of energy,” GBCI chairwoman Naning Adiwoso said.

She said that by having green buildings, owners would benefit from lower operational costs and save natural resources.

“This enables them to contribute more to surrounding communities.”
