In regard of the World Town Planning Day (WTPD) that is commemorated every November 8th each year, Directorate General of Spatial Planning, Ministry of Public Works held a series of activities including workshop, seminar, talk-show, fun-bike and spatial planning festival. This year (Smart Green City Planning) is chosen as the theme for World Town Planning day 2010 in Indonesia to promote community awareness on the importance of having an ecological friendly city. Green Building Council Indonesia (GBC Indonesia) participated in this commemoration since 2008 to increase community awareness in spatial planning aspect. This year, GBC Indonesia also joined the event series in Jakarta, South Kalimantan and ended in Bali Provincial Government which the peak of this agenda held on the November 6th – 8th at the Werdhapura Village Centre, Sanur – Bali and officially opened by Minister of Public Works, Ir. Djoko Kirmanto and Director General of Spatial Planning, Ir. Imam S Ernawi. GBC Indonesia had an expo together attended with various government institutions, universities, non-government organizations and practitioners. By participating in this event, we got some benefits such as:
1. Strengthen commitment in promoting sustainable development in Indonesia
2. Socialize the council, performance, rating tools and contribution to the community as well as sharing best practices in regional development/urban development issues
3. Become part of the social responsibility in providing services to community in general
4. GBC Indonesia also participating and automatically included as a member of Indonesia SUD (Sustainable Urban Development) Forum which this year officially launched the Indonesia SUD-Goals.
